Simple Homemade Christmas Gift Tags

Saturday, November 13, 2010

I've had a few Christmas decorating ideas swirling in my head over the past few days. I've already decided that I want to tone down the decorating a bit and go with a more relaxed, natural colour scheme. I thought that some simple, homemade Christmas tags would go well with the "Luxury Kraft Paper Gift Wrap" I snatched up found at Costco. (P.S. It's really nice. I'd recommend getting some. You can see what it looks like in the pictures below.)

For this little project I needed a tag punch that I found at Michaels. It was 30% off already with a 20% off coupon. A pretty sweet deal. I wandered into the scrapbook paper aisle and found some kraft paper cardstock. I also picked up a roll of green $2.99 ribbon that was also 20% off. I dug out my alphabet rolling stamp, a black ink pad, and some jute twine that I already had.

I punched a few tags.

They're so cute!

Then I punched a hole in each one with a hole punch.

Then I stamped some cute sayings, tied some ribbon and twine on, and there you have it.

Would it be cruel of me to give this beautifully wrapped gift to Alex for him to open knowing that inside is a half-eaten box of Vegetable Thins crackers?

Hee hee!

Update: I decided to give away an alphabet rolling stamp to celebrate 200+ followers. You can enter by clicking on my giveaway post.

  8. Omg! Yes, you have to give it to him now. I want a picture of his face when he opens it. And what a cool stamp! I've never seen one. I get so flustered when I'm in that department. There is so much. And is your Michaels like a maze now with all these winding aisles? Drives me nuts.
