Our Little Ol' Christmas Tree

Sunday, December 12, 2010

Yay, our tree is no longer in the driveway!!!!!

It's in our sunroom. With lights. With garland. With ornaments. With a star. Yeah!!!

It only took me fifty hours, but who's counting.

I had a plan this year - to use mostly white and brown. Do you know how hard it is in this town to find plain white Christmas stuff!?!?!?

All of the things that I did find were either too feathery, too glittery, or too feminine. (Which were all nice on their own, but just not for what I envisioned my tree to be like this year.) In my desperation I ended up buying some tiny wooden stars at Michaels and spray-painting them white. I tied them to the tree with twine.

So the tree-plan didn't quite work out. What also happened was that I opened a tub full of ornaments that were given to me over the years and they were just too cute to not put on the tree.

I found a box of rusty bells that I realllllllly wanted to paint white. But I didn't.

I had a string of red, wooden beads that I also reallllllly wanted to paint white, too. But I didn't. I made a beautiful ruffled burlap garland instead. I lazily twisted some burlap garland around the tree instead.

I guess it's kind of rustic-looking.

At this point I don't mind as long as there's a fancy camera under it for me on Christmas morning.

It's still cute.

Can you see the weather through the window?

There's a winter storm watch going on right now. Good thing I'm still in my pajamas and on my third cup of coffee. :)

P.S. I love this star.
P.S.S. Don't make fun of my naked blinds. Still waiting on those PB Tie-Up Shades to get here.

  11. Sarah!
That is a very nice tree, I love those big rusty bells, they really set it off. Your burlap ribbon is very special, too. You just gave me an idea! I was wondering how to add a touch of burlap to my tree, I shall tie a bow up there! Thank you so much for letting us see it!
I hope you made it through that nasty Winter storm, we heard it was headed for the mid-west, hope everybody was okay!

  12. Hi Sarah, It's me again, I'm sorry, I thought you were from the mid-west, just as I clicked the x I was reading someone's comment that said "I'm a Canadian, too" oops too late, it was done. I didn't hear of a storm going through Ontario, but I'm glad I saw that comment. I'm sure you will forgive me,:0)

  15. Very cute! I love that star topper too! I have a stuffed bear on mine (my son's LOL). I think the red beads would look great on it and give it a nice pop of color! I have some red beads on my tree (hanging vertically downwards around it). I would love to have some rusty bells too. I'm kinda scared of bleach or I'd make some!
