Yup. It's true. I have whiny conversations with myself all the time about the need to someday have a dutch door. Mostly when I'm surfing the internet for cute things and avoiding going to bed at a decent hour.
Can't you just picture it?
Me calling Roary in from chewing an extra crunchy stick. Me baking a blueberry lemon pumpkin rhubarb (oh the possibilities are endless) pie and letting it rest on the ledge to cool. Me standing inside the doorway with a warm breeze blowing my hair around like in a fancy hair commercial.
I'm pretty sure that a dutch door would greatly improve our quality of life.
On our main floor, there are three possible spots for a dreamy dutch door. Maybe I'll take some pics and ask your opinion sometime. That would be fun.

ReplyDeleteme too! now i want one toooooo! I like #2, 4 and all the coastal living ones (though those I particularly like because of the breezy vacation feeling to them)

Hard to pick. I love 3, 4, and 5!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one. My front door is rounded, but not a dutch door. I had one made over at The Daisy Inn, which I loved.
ReplyDeleteI love the last picture. I myself just thought yesterday that I want a dutch door for the play room! I didn't think they made dutch doors anymore! :)
ReplyDeletewhen we moved into our 1961 cape cod, there were literally doors on every single room. we took most of them down - not the bedrooms or bathrooms obviously :) - but left one going into the dining room - a dutch door! i was so excited! we just leave it propped open most of the time, but i really love it.
ReplyDeleteps - i didn't know what it was called until your post, i always refer to it as "one of those doors that splits in the middle and you can close half of it" - so "dutch door" is a lot better :)
pps - my favorite is #10!
Oh, yes would definately improve your quality of life :) too cute! You found some awesome pictures! and I love the view from #6...they are all dreamy! We are hanging some cupboards today in our reno project...I have to tell you though, I have changed from my yellow walls to some blue grey tones. I still love yellow, but I think the color change is going to look awesome with our cupboards. Let me know what you think :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
From freezing Alberta..
Well I didn't know I wanted one either until this post!! Haha, I love them all!
ReplyDeleteI want one too now!!! Great photos...I love the aqua one and how it just pops in the room!
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteLove the dutch doors! How funny, I just commented yesterday on one over at Classic Casual Home. She wrote a post called Ten Tips for Renovating My Living Room and there was a beautiful dutch door in the background. Check it out!

ReplyDeleteOoohh, love. I think I will be needing one of these as well. They are just so darn charming!
ReplyDeleteI love #7. And #5. And #10. The house I grew up in had a Dutch door. I think I need one, too.
ReplyDeleteNo 10!!!! I am sooooo all about the curved, hobbit doors. I am getting one put in our bedroom into the ensuite one day when I am rich, and I am also getting a hobbit door for my front door. All curved, carved solid wood... sigh, now I am all dreamy. Wonder if I won the $50 Million tonight...hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteOh, girl, I am WITH you! So adorable, I want one too!
ReplyDeleteI love dutch doors and I want one! I don't even care where it goes in my house, I would just like one please! :) These images are perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Dutch doors. Loooove them ;) and I love every single picture!
ReplyDeleteHaha I had a "run-in" with one as a child! I ran smack into the top part with a bowl of cereal in hand. It hurt and I had to run around with a busted up nose/face for a while. My friends thought it was funny at first, until they realized I was hurt. It's funny now. Man, I had forgotten all about that until now... :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Dutch doors. Loooove them ;) and I love every single picture!
ReplyDeleteI'll make you a dutch door if you come home and hang out with me soon.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Toronto!
