I hope you've forgiven me for my lameville one-picture-post yesterday. Like I said, I was a bit excited when I finally found curtains for our dining room that fit in with our light and white cottage style!
If you've been reading for awhile, you'll know that I've had a difficult time trying to find curtains that look good with the wooden valence over the window. I think that over the last few years I've purchased (and returned) more than ten different styles of curtains for that one window! As a matter of fact I had given up looking for curtain panels and had written a blog post about possibly using antique shutters to dress up the windows instead.
I'm glad I stuck with curtains because they really soften up the room. Check out the before and after picture to see what I mean!
The curtains are a soft, light grey fabric with the prettiest white flowers and leaves printed on top.
The store where I found the curtains also carried white on white curtains but I decided to live on the edge and go with the light grey. Heh heh heh.
I really love how they look from the kitchen. Well, minus the carbon monoxide detector and ladder balanced on a tea light. ;)
I purchased the curtain panels from a local home décor store in our town. They came from a company called Brunelli which distributes bedding, quilts, curtains, etc. to various boutiques and shops. I took a quick look at the Brunelli website this morning and if you click around you can find a page that will find the closest retailer to you. The link to the exact curtains I purchased can be found here.
I'm so, so happy with them!
Since everything is looking so monochromatic I have a few ideas to add a wee bit more colour and contrast into the living room and dining room. Yippee!
P.S. I'm thinking of getting another set of the same curtains for the living room to tie the two rooms together. Whaddaya think?
Yes, they are perfect in that room. I've always liked cornice boards (just the ones that wrap the window frame top) and like you said, it is so hard to find the right curtains. I've never seen one like yours that goes to the ceiling, but it's really pretty, and your curtains do soften the look more than a short valance would do. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marti!
DeleteLove!! Your dining room is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlushing! Thank you. :)
DeleteI love them. Good choice in going with the grey. I would definetely put them in the living room to tie everything together. Everything in your house is so cute, even the dogs.
ReplyDeleteWell... The dogs are cute.... When they are being good. ;)
DeleteWow, I love the fabric you chose. So beautiful. The whole thing came together wonderfully and I love it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, although I do have to say that the pictures don't do the curtains justice. So much prettier in person!
DeleteI love the new curtains! They look great and I can see them working elsewhere in your home.

PS I thought I was the only one that bought bags of tea lights from IKEA to use for "shims and props" instead of actually lighting them ;)
Hahaha, nope you're not alone. I use them all the time in the bottom of my plant pots instead of rocks. Weird huh?
DeletePlease share where you purchased your shades! So pretty
ReplyDeleteThe shades were purchased from Linens N' Things in Canada about five years ago. I think they are discontinued now but they may carry something similar. I hope that helps!
DeleteTotally transforms the room. Great choice.
ReplyDelete:)

Thanks Jeni Beni. Of course I went ahead and ordered more. Don't tell Alex.
DeleteI love them! They work so well in your room! But the another pair :)
ReplyDeleteDone and done. heh heh heh.
DeleteBeautiful! I've been curtainless in my livingroom for about 10 years because I can't find the right thing
ReplyDeleteI was six years. Keep looking, you'll find what you want eventually!
DeleteThey are gorgeous, I'd do the livingroom too!
ReplyDeleteI think I will, thanks for the feedback. :)
DeleteSarah :)
ReplyDeleteThe curtains look terrific!! What a find!Found your blog after pinning your Valentine shelf decor, & so glad I did!!! Read all the way back to the beginning & now look forward to each new post! :D There's definitely a LOT of cuteness in your little corner of the world... My only request would be for a few more pix of your crawling cutie pie... That kid is adorable!!!
What a sweet comment! I can't believe you went back and read all of my old posts, that is such a compliment. :)
DeleteI agree, a Coopster update is in order. He just moves so fast it's hard to get good pictures now!
Beauty!!

DeleteWell worth the wait...they are fabulous!!!! I think that is it great that you went with the light grey colour. They could go in so many rooms with such a bright light colour, so fresh looking. Yes go ahead and get another pair for your other room doubt that you will find that it is too much of a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. I agree.... I love finding items that can go anywhere!
DeleteLOVE THEM Sarah! WOW! They look so pretty in there.
ReplyDeleteThank you June. :)
DeleteA really lovely look. Patience has paid off!
ReplyDeleteWellllll, I wouldn't say that I've been patient. Impatient is more like it. Hahaha!
DeleteUh, YES!! Well done. Maybe you could hang these in the living room as a test before purchasing more...?
ReplyDeleteI'm not anon...I'm Maggie...I just don't have any other profile...;-)
Thanks Maggie! I did what you suggested and tried them in the living room. I was too lazy to do both panels.
DeleteOne panel on one side looked good so I went ahead and ordered the second set. Woohoo!
Love the curtains, I'm always afraid of adding color with curtains and end up going with plain white or cream, but a light grey with prints in white looks great! I may have to give it a try. Maybe start with the guest room and see how I feel about it.
