Oh, hi. I hope you had a lovely weekend. Ours was jam-packed with yard work, trips to Lowes and Home Depot, swimming lessons, bike rides, visits with Dads for Father's Day, and......... a baseball game.
Yes, you heard that right. Cute friends of ours were short a girl for their co-ed baseball team. They asked if I could help. I do like helping. But, the truth is, I haven't played baseball since the seventh grade. And even then I tried to hide behind the bench when it was my turn to bat. The good news is that I survived, I apparently didn't suck too badly, and I ended up with a really cute baseball glove. It's pink. And I sure look sporty when I wear it.
I did, at one point, have to bake some muffins. I told Alex they were a Father's Day breakfast treat - which they were. They were also for lunch and snacks though because we sort of had no groceries.
Alex liked his Father's Day card. I debated whether or not to write a cheesy line on the bottom. You know, like, "Dad, you're a great catch." I decided to keep it short and sweet. I really hope you like my pretend-kid writing. I can't play baseball - but I sure can print some scribbly letters!
This kid loves his little bike to the moon and back. We're working on saying the word "bike". For now though, all I hear all day is, "Mama, I want to go. I WANT TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
And last, but not least, my little Charlie Brown perennial garden that I talked about here is surprisingly looking quite pretty.
Today I'm treating myself to a blog post. My report cards are done, my photo sessions are all caught up, and I only have two baskets of laundry left to fold and put away.
Today it feels like I'm not doing too bad at all.
:)
Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteYour little guy is such a doll. I bet Alex smiled big when he saw that card. It is so cute! The baseball game sounds like so much fun and takes me waaay back. I loved baseball and played on a church team for years. I don't even know if I could hit a ball now :)
sending hugs...
Ok girl you have a lot going on! First who doesn't love a pink baseball glove? A hand made (pun intended) adorable fishy card, a pretty clematis in your new garden and a" pick my presto" at Layla's? (loved that design, wow gorgeous). All with a pint sized super cutey Cooper to boot! That was a busy weekend!! Kelly
ReplyDeleteIs your little Charlie Brown perennial some type of Clematis? I have something similar here that bunnies (and husband accidentally) destroy, but it keeps coming back. My is a flowering vine with striped flowers. This one in particular is called Nelly Moser.
ReplyDeleteJust saw your basement on The Lettered Cottage. Wonderful! Lucky girl
Hi Leslie, yes it is a clematis! I have a few of them now and they all seem pretty hardy. I haven't seen one with stripes but it sound pretty neat. :)

Your little dude is so cute. Are you guys still hoping to adopt? Would love an update.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Sarah! Yes, we are still hoping to adopt. Thanks so much for asking. I think I'll share a little update on the blog sometime in the next few weeks. I've had a few people ask what's been happening. The honest answer is - nothing much. Still waiting. Sigh. I'll make sure to share more details in my post. :)

We are in the same boat. I haven't played ball in about 22 years, since Grade 10-ish, and was sort of signed up for the women's slo-pitch team in our new town. I agreed to get some info in order to make a decision, and before I knew it, women I have never met were telling my husband (who works for the municipality and therefore circulates with the townsfolk) that they had heard I was joining the team. I pulled my quads in the first game, and couldn't play last week, but I did cross home plate and got a couple of base hits to help toward our tie finish.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, Joy! Good for you. Also, you are giving me a little bit of hope. :)
