My husband made some board and ...Board and batton!! My husband made some board and batton shutters for our windows this summer out of inexpensive pine boards. They were really easy to make, and I love how they look! We hung them with strap hinges that we picked up at the local hardware store and ordered some shutter dogs online to finish the look. The general idea of ones like those pictured throughout (including the second-last photo) are quite pretty, and look fairly straightforward to make. I always wanted shutters, although my Craftsman-style 1x1/2 storey bungalow with glassed in front porch and rows of little windows doesn't really lend itself to putting shutters anywhere.
